Rules of Mars Prize
- Initial entry fee will be $1000.00 this will get you listed as a possible competitor. It will allow you to receive some types of help from the Mars Prize Committee.
- Full entry fee will be $15,000.00. This will actually make you eligible for the prize. When this fee is paid a contestant will have to provide a firm business plan and some real indication that they can actually launch a ship. The Full entry fee will be due within 3 years of filing the initial entry fee.
- No contestant shall ask for or accept government funding in relation to the building or launching of the ship. It will not accept government funds for any space-related item that will be used in the ship but can work on government projects not related to the planned entry. Acceptance of government help on any aspect of the entry except a paid launch will disqualify the entry, subjecting the team to forfeiture of entry fee and rights there of. All necessary permits and launch control, which are paid for, will not be considered a disqualifying form of help. Any waver of such fees would be considered improper help.
- There will be no limits to the type, size or propulsion of any vehicle.
- All ships will carry unique names not in current use by any space vehicle and will not be duplicated.
- To claim the prize the constant must launch to Mars, land on Mars, stay on Mars for at least 14 months, and have a at least a 2 person colony when you leave.
